Jeffrey Barbeau is the author and editor of several books. His most recent publication is The Spirit of Methodism: From the Wesleys to a Global Communion (2019), an introduction to the history of Methodism—from the time of the Wesleys, through developments in North America, to its diverse and global connection today—as well as its primary beliefs and practices.

He has also published Religion in Romantic England (2018), an anthology of primary sources that explores the ways that the literature of English Christianity shaped the social, cultural, political, and religious life of the nation in texts published between 1760 and 1832.

His intellectual biography of the poet and theologian, Sara Coleridge: Her Life and Thought (2014), was the first modern biography to devote substantial attention to Coleridge's published and unpublished religious writings.

Dr. Barbeau teaches courses in theology, religion and literature, and the history of Christianity. Recent course offerings include studies in Theology and Autobiography, Romantic Literature and Theology, Women Writing Theology, Wesley and the Methodists, and Theology and the Liberal Arts.

Between 2012 and 2015, he kept a blog, Reading History , on the intersection of religion and literature.
